About our team

Welcome to the UBC logger sports team, the Thunderjacks!

Rooted in tradition but never afraid to branch out, we are a student-led club passionate about keeping the heritage of logger sports alive. Whether you're looking to perform in front of a crowd, try your hand at axe throwing, or learn how to safely operate a chainsaw, we welcome beginners and seasoned competitors alike to come give it a swing.

Our events include a range of classic logger sports disciplines such as axe throwing, double buck (cross-cut saw), single buck, stock saw, choker race, underhand chop, team relay, and pole climbing.

We are proud to showcase the traditions of this niche sport, with a focus on building community, encouraging growth, and inspiring the next generation of competitors for the Canadian Logger Sports Association (CANLOG). We attend intercollegiate competitions, host our own competition (The Great Canadian Classic), and compete in professional BC competitions hosted by CANLOG.

Check our Instagram @ubcthunderjacks for our practice schedule, as practice times vary each semester. We look forward to meeting you at our practice arena on the UBC Farm!
